Detect/Disarm/Set Snares
Skill, Woodlore
Spotting, disarming and setting snares, from small-game loops to snares built for large or specific creatures.
From the book
This skill covers every part of dealing with snares: spotting them, taking them apart safely, and laying new ones. Searching a path properly is slow work, taking at least 5 minutes of close study for every 100 ft of trail examined. Disarming or setting a snare needs no special tools, but a failed roll means the character has sprung it and is caught.
Most snares are meant for small game, yet a skilled character can also build snares big enough to hold large beasts, or ones designed to catch one particular kind of creature. The chance of success begins at 55% and improves by 5% per level of ability. It is a Woodlore skill costing 1,000 XP; characters who are neither hunters nor raised in a primitive or barbarian culture need tutoring to learn it.
