Camouflage/Ambush

Skill, Woodlore

Using brush, branches and vines to conceal people or gear in natural surroundings, for hiding or setting an ambush.

From the book

Camouflage/Ambush is the woodsman's art of vanishing into the landscape. Using whatever nature supplies, such as shrubs, cut branches and hanging vines, the character can hide living people and animals or objects like spare gear and treasure. There is almost no limit to how much can be concealed, provided the materials are on hand and there is time to work: each person or item takes at least 5 minutes to disguise.

The cover only works while those hidden stay perfectly still, and it may not fool a creature with an unusually sharp nose or psychic senses. The base chance of success is 65%, rising 5% with every level of ability gained, and the Game Judge may let searchers roll a save vs Perception to pick out a camouflaged person or cache.

Like every Woodlore skill it is natural to hunters and to characters raised among primitive or barbarian peoples; anyone else must find a tutor, and it costs 1,000 XP.
