Mountain Climbing
Skill, Woodlore
Mountaineering: scaling cliffs and slopes, handling ledges and overhangs, and picking the safest route.
From the book
Mountain Climbing gives a character the core techniques of mountaineering: getting up sheer cliffs and steep slopes, working across ledges and around overhangs, and choosing the least dangerous way up. A trained climber has a 90% chance of safely passing any mountaineering or rock-climbing obstacle, and that chance keeps rising by 1% per level of ability with no upper limit.
Anyone without the skill still has some chance, equal to 3% times their DEX score. In either case the Game Judge may adjust the odds to reflect how easy or hard a particular climb is. Unusually for Woodlore, it costs only 500 XP to learn, though characters who are not hunters or raised in a primitive or barbarian culture still need a tutor.
