Heavy composite armors make up Type V: plate mail, scale mail, laminated, splint, brigandine, and lamellar of wood or bone. Each absorbs 5 points of damage per attack but gives -2 on saves vs Dexterity.
Plate, scale and splint mail and lamellar count as 20 lb. of encumbrance, roughly half their actual weight. Plate mail costs 500+ G.P., and scale mail is sold with ring mail at 50+ G.P. Spell casters other than paladins cannot wear it.
