Type IV armor

Equipment, Armor

Chain mail; the first class to hamper Dexterity saves.

From the book

Type IV is chain mail. It absorbs 4 points of damage per attack and is the first class to hinder the wearer, giving -1 on saves vs Dexterity. Only elves and dwarves hold the craft of making it in the Atlantean world, so it is rare and costs 200+ G.P.

For encumbrance, chain mail counts as 10 lb., about half its real weight. Martial arts cannot be used in metal armor, and spell casters other than paladins cannot wear it. Two days or more of wet weather gives chain a 10% chance of needing replacement and 50% of needing repair under the optional wear rules.
