An armorer's hall lined with racks of swords, spears and shields, a smith at a glowing forge, and a trident statue in a sunken city beyond.

Type VI armor

Equipment, Armor

Full plate, the best protection and the worst Dexterity penalty.

From the book

Full plate armor is the top class: it absorbs 6 points of damage from every attack, but the wearer takes -3 on all saves vs Dexterity. Only elves and dwarves know how to forge it, so it is rare and costs 2000+ G.P.

It counts as 40 lb. for encumbrance, about half its true weight. Spell casters other than paladins cannot wear it. Under the optional wear rules it resists fire well (only a 2% chance of needing repair after 20+ points in a round), but a fall of 20 ft. or more gives a 5% chance of replacement and 50% of repair.
