Woodcraft
Skill, Woodlore
Wilderness survival: foraging a meal, finding drinkable water, finding or making shelter, and lighting a fire in bad weather.
From the book
Woodcraft is the knack of staying alive in the wild. It covers four separate abilities: foraging enough food for one meal, finding water that is safe to drink, finding or building shelter from the weather, and getting a fire going when conditions are against it.
Each of these has a 55% chance of success, rising 5% with every level of ability. Terrain and climate can shift the odds a great deal at the Game Judge's discretion. When searching for food, water or shelter, the character gets one roll for each 100 by 100 ft area passed through. It is a Woodlore skill costing 1,000 XP; characters who are neither hunters nor raised in a primitive or barbarian culture need a tutor.
