Mounted Combat I

Skill, Combat

Fighting from the saddle without losing combat effectiveness; it does not cover shooting from horseback.

From the book

Mounted Combat I lets a character fight from horseback without losing any fighting ability. Without it, anyone trying to fight from the back of a steed of any kind must take the non-proficiency penalty and has an even chance each round of that combat of being thrown from the saddle.

The skill is not the same as horse archery (Archery II) and does not let a rider shoot while moving faster than half speed. It is the prerequisite for Mounted Combat II. It costs 1,000 XP and, like all combat skills, takes 1-3 months to develop, with a qualified instructor needed by those whose profession does not teach it.
