Skill, Arts and Sciences
Training as a painter or sculptor; a percentile roll sets the character's talent tier, from amateur to master, and higher tiers bring commissions, fees and Charisma bonuses with admirers.
From the book
Art covers a career as a painter or sculptor. After initial training the character rolls percentile dice to see how much talent has developed, subtracting 2% from that first roll only, and then, each time a new level is gained, rolls the listed chance to move up to the next tier.
An amateur (1-10%) turns out lifeless work and has a 25% chance to improve; a fair artist (11-20%) shows potential and a 50% chance; a promising one (21-75%) has some ability but no market yet, with a 75% chance to advance. A talented artist (76-89%) has a 50% chance each month of a portrait or bust commission from a wealthy admirer, taking 2-5 weeks and earning 100-1,000 GP, gains +1 Charisma with people who know the work, and moves up automatically.
The very talented (90-98%) charge double, can take on large murals and statues for longer times and bigger fees, gain +2 Charisma, and have a cumulative 10% chance per level of being hailed as a master, rising to 50% if they die. A master (99-100%) earns ten times normal fees, is sought after by the rich and noble, has a 25% chance each month of a major commission lasting over a year (which, if finished, doubles fees again), and enjoys +4 Charisma with anyone who knows or has heard of the work.
