Drafting
Skill, Arts and Sciences
Main skill of architects and engineers.
From the book
Drafting is the core skill of architects and engineers. A draftsman can design most kinds of structures, from bridges to fortifications, and can plan and oversee underground digging with the chance of a cave-in held to just 5%.
Given the plans of a building, the character can usually spot weaknesses caused by poor design, such as unsafe passages or weak walls and ceilings, and can judge where secret doors or passages could have been placed without undermining the structure. This does not find secret doors outright; it only narrows down where they might be. Once inside a building or underground complex, a draftsman who spends at least 5 minutes examining it will probably notice sloping passages or unsound stone or woodwork.
Every use of the skill is resolved with a save vs INT. At the Game Judge's option, an ordinary dungeon map can count as a set of plans, which makes the skill useful in many situations. Scholars need Drafting before they can learn Inventing.
