Linguistics is the formal study of languages. A linguist learns to speak, read and write one new language for every level, counting from the level at which the study began.
Linguists can also identify where most unfamiliar languages or scripts come from and work out the meaning of most unknown writings, spending at least an hour on each page. Both tasks call for a save vs INT. The skill qualifies a character for work as a scribe, interpreter or tutor.
