Platinum is the first-order magical activator, the strongest and costliest of the precious metals. A dram goes into the base of every alchemical dust and every Potion of Control, and 2 drs. into the Potions of Emotional Influence and Detect Magic.
Its essence, iridescent True Platinum, is the alchemist's mightiest enchanting fluid: after six weeks of daily dousing any object can hold 2-7 spells of any kind and recharge itself each day. Adding a cursed potion to the fluid before dousing produces a cursed item instead.
