Enchantment
Field of magic
The foundational forms of magic, such as illusion and conjuration.
From the book
Enchantment is the study of magic's most basic forms, chiefly conjuration and illusion. Magicians are its specialists: single-classed, they start with fewer spells than dual-classed rivals but rise in level faster, can often spot illusions and conjurations by observation alone, and are the only casters able to learn its mightiest spells. Enchanters and enchantresses (magician/harlequins) and thaumaturges (magician/alchemists) build on it, archimages take it as their second field, good and most neutral witches pair it with Elemental Magic, and sorcerers and wizards may choose it as their secondary study.
Illusions run from simple tricks, false sounds and multiple images through illusory objects, creatures and terrain to Hallucination, Negative Illusion and The Grand Illusion. Conjurations build from missiles and smoke to plants, animals, fire, water, earth, wind, toxic clouds and monsters, ending in The Great Conjuration and a conjured simulacrum. Around these sits a broad kit of practical magic: charm, levitation, invisibility, locking and opening, shrinking and enlarging, haste and slow, flight, teleportation, magic portals, extra-dimensional space, animated objects, transformation, and the minor and major enchantment of objects.
