Alchemy, Alchemical device

Tiny glass lenses worn on the eye that give an alchemist sight in the dark, but hurt the eyes if worn too long.

From the book

Tiny glass lenses worn directly on the eyes, much like modern contact lenses. They use the same glass as prisms, with one drop of elf, dwarf or goblin blood added, and give an alchemist night vision out to 60 ft.

Wearing them longer than an hour risks lasting harm to the eyes: each 10 minutes past the limit adds a 5% chance of blindness. They cannot be combined with any other optical device, and only alchemists can use them.

Every alchemical device needs a work area or laboratory plus two tool sets costing 25 G.P. each, one for metal and one for glass. A device takes a week to build (the Rod of Detection takes two), and the chance of success is 75% +2% per level of ability.
