Lenses
Alchemy, Alchemical device
Magnifying lenses used to search surfaces for secret doors and traps, though not magically hidden ones.
From the book
Concave lenses, like magnifying glasses, made from the same materials as prisms. An alchemist uses them to scrutinize walls, floors and ceilings for secret doors, traps and similar features, spending a full minute on each 10 by 10 ft. section.
Each minute of searching allows a save vs Intelligence to spot anything out of place. Lenses do not reveal what kind of trap is present, and they cannot find traps or doors hidden by magic.
Every alchemical device needs a work area or laboratory plus two tool sets costing 25 G.P. each, one for metal and one for glass. A device takes a week to build (the Rod of Detection takes two), and the chance of success is 75% +2% per level of ability.
