Alchemical Rod of Detection
Alchemy, Alchemical device
A Y-shaped cast divining rod an alchemist uses to locate a chosen metal, element or gemstone.
From the book
A divining rod for finding materials. It is cast in a plaster mold from an ounce each of Rare Earths, lead, mercury, iron, copper, silver, gold and platinum, with 2 oz. of sulfur to bond the mixture, 2 oz. of lodestone for attraction, and a carat of each of the twelve gemstones, powdered. The result is a Y-shaped rod 12 inches long.
An alchemist can use it to find any one metal, element or gemstone within 20 ft., once per day per level of ability, and each use lasts 10 minutes. Nobody but an alchemist can use it.
Every alchemical device needs a work area or laboratory plus two tool sets costing 25 G.P. each, one for metal and one for glass. A device takes a week to build (the Rod of Detection takes two), and the chance of success is 75% +2% per level of ability.
