Lemuria, painted for this archiveSangir
Place, Region
The dense jungle of Lemuria's northern and northwestern coast, named Sangir by the Shebans, full of dangerous beasts, venomous and constricting snakes, and bands of giant ape-like lemures. It yields many herbs and fibers. A Dravidian legend of First Age Atlantean colonists arriving in flying silver ships is now generally rejected for lack of evidence.
From the book
Sangir, as the Shebans call Lemuria's northern and northwestern coast, is nothing but dense jungle. Many of its wild beasts are dangerous to people, and venomous and constricting snakes are a common menace to careless travelers. Bands of giant, ape-like lemures also live here, though they are thought to be rarer now than in earlier ages.
Traders report plenty of useful herbs and plants: draconium, jasmine, lotus and tamarisk are especially common, and hemp, jute and asarabaca grow here and can be gathered in bulk.
An old Dravidian legend holds that First Age Atlanteans once settled Sangir, arriving in huge silver ships that rode the wind the way sailing ships ride the sea. The story was once taken as fact, but today nearly everyone dismisses it, chiefly because no real evidence has turned up.
