Erythraen Sea

Place, Sea

A generally calm sea criss-crossed by Sheban trade lanes, also known as the Queen's Sea or Sea of Sheba. It is bounded by Gondwana, Turan, Jambu, Lemuria, the Isles of Ozar and Punt and opens east into the Bay of Ishnu. Its Lemurian waters, the Forbidden Waters, are shunned by sailors, and storms make the Fangs of Lemuria dangerous.

Also called Sea of Sheba, The Queen's Sea

From the book

Also called the Queen's Sea or the Sea of Sheba after the Sheban mariners who have made it their own, the Erythraen is a fairly calm sea crossed by busy Sheban trade routes. It is bordered by Gondwana and Turan, joins the Sea of Baku through the strait between Turan and Jambu, follows Jambu's coast down to Lemuria, and returns along the broken chain of Ozar's isles to the Land of Punt. Eastward it gives way to the Bay of Ishnu, which lies between Lemuria and Jambu's southern Veddan subcontinent.

Its waters teem with sea life, and small fishing boats crowd the calm coasts. Near Lemuria, though, shipping almost vanishes. That stretch has been called the Forbidden Waters since ancient times; nobody remembers why, but the name appears on the oldest maps, sailors consider the place evil, and only fools sail there. Fierce seasonal storms strike the Forbidden Waters and the southern straits among Ozar's isles, where the weather at the Fangs of Lemuria is harsh and the sea dangerous.
