Isles of Ozar

The Isles of Ozar run in a ragged line from the great island of Punt to Lemuria's coast, loosely marking the boundary between the Erythraen and Forgotten Seas. They were once called the Fangs of Lemuria for their deadly string of low islets, rocky spires and submerged reefs, all resting on an undersea ridge that runs roughly east-north-east from Punt. Ships risk having their bottoms torn out, swirling currents confuse navigators, especially at night, and storms are frequent; many vessels are thought to have been lost here.

Legend makes the largest island the home of the Archmage Ozar, a mighty and eccentric wizard who declared himself lord of all the isles more than a century ago. Legend says he stocked nearly every island with a strange menagerie of exotic creatures gathered from across the world and even from other planes and dimensions, and that he carried off beautiful women, nymphs and other females for reasons no one knows, which has fed endless speculation and tall tales.

Sailors shun the chain, and not only for its hazards: anyone who draws near hears unfamiliar cries, beast calls and weird roars. No one claims to have gone ashore since Ozar arrived.
