Eudea

Place, Nation

A small peninsular kingdom on the west coast between the Sea of Lost Souls and the Bay of Maelstroms, peopled by tall, slender, bronze-skinned folk. Its wealth comes from alchemical and magical herbs sold through the capital Goldar, and its sorcery-dabbling kings sway the Council by threatening to raise the price of luxuries such as love philtres and perfumes.

From the book

Eudea is a small kingdom on a peninsula off the west coast, bordered east by Poseidonea, west by the Sargasso Sea, north by the Sea of Lost Souls and south by the Bay of Maelstroms. Its people look most like Poseidoneans, with bronze skin, strong features and straight black hair, and they tend to be taller than average but slender.

Most Eudeans live in the central highlands around the rich capital, Goldar, which supplies many herbs and plants used in alchemical and magical preparations; wagons haul these costly goods to the imperial capital at great profit. The only other big city is the western port of Valum Chivum.

The king lives in a grand palace in the First Age style at Goldar and usually dabbles in alchemy or sorcery. Eudea's wealth gives him real pull on the Council of Kings, and past monarchs have won their way by threatening to raise the price of alchemical luxuries such as aphrodisiacs, love philtres and exotic perfumes.
