The Serpent Cult
Creature, Cults, Fraternal Orders, and Secret Societies
A feared fraternity of wizards and necromancers devoted to Set, based in Acheron in Quaddan. Rumored to practice human sacrifice and devil worship, it hides stolen wealth in labyrinthine pyramid temples; its true goals are unknown.
From the book
The Serpent Cult is a secret brotherhood centered on Acheron, a city of Quaddan. Its members, mostly wizards and necromancers, all follow the serpent god Set. The whole region fears it, and its doings are hidden, but rumors keep tying it to the most gruesome necromantic rites, human sacrifice and devil worship among them.
Deep in the maze-like corridors of the cult's pyramid temples, it is said, lie great hoards of stolen treasure, watched over (some say) by giant serpents and by creatures more hideous than any mortal could picture. The cult has followers in Nubia and in scattered places across Gondwana and Mediterranea. Many think it is linked to the Cult of Sefar, and perhaps to the non-human sects that serve the evil powers Tiamat and Jormungandr. What the Serpent Cult actually wants is unknown.
