Shows whether an object, device or person is cursed, but not what kind of curse.

Tells the caster whether a single object, device or person within 10 ft. is cursed, or is under the sway of any curse, hex, malediction or similar magic. The spell shows only that a curse is present; it gives no clue to what kind of curse it is or what it does. There is no save and no variation by level.

A scene
The dealer in Tartessos swears the circlet came from a First Age tomb in Autochthea and that it is worth a king's ransom. Asherah, a mage who has bought trouble before, asks him to set it on the counter and step back. She speaks softly to the evening star and looks. The circlet sits within arm's reach, dull gold and pretty, and it is cursed. What the curse does, the spell will not say: madness, bad luck, a slow death. She pushes it back across the counter without a word.
