Lance

The lance has the highest damage ceiling of any hand weapon on the chart, 3-18. It weighs 10 lb., needs a Strength of 12, and costs 5 G.P. among the hand weapons.

Proficiency with the lance comes from the Mounted Combat II skill, which also adds +2 to the attack roll of anyone fighting while mounted; Mounted Combat I must be learned first. A rider with no mounted combat skill at all fights from the saddle at the non-proficiency penalty and has an even chance each round of being thrown from the mount.
