Bolas weigh 2 lb., cost 2 S.P. among the miscellaneous weapons, and deal 1-4 damage while also entangling the target. No Strength minimum is listed.
Any hit with an entangling weapon snares the victim. On the following round the victim may try to get loose with a save vs Dexterity or Strength, whichever the character prefers. An entangled opponent is open to undefended attacks and cannot cast spells, since casting needs clear speech and free movement. As a hand-thrown weapon, bolas reach 5 ft. per point of the thrower's Strength at effective range and 10 ft. per point at long range.
