An alchemist shapes a clay golem beside copper furnaces and a homunculus in a jar, with whales drifting past a sunken city beyond.

Mutated Species Table

Alchemy, Homonculus

Percentile results for a mutant homonculous, ranging from a talking blob to extra heads, extra arms or bonus powers.

From the book

Rolled when a homonculous turns out a mutant. On 0-60% it is a trembling, shapeless blob of average human intelligence that speaks its creator's language and can move only slowly; on 61-65% it is the same blob with ESP out to 200 ft. On 66-70% it has one head more than planned, which makes no real difference because both heads act as one. On 71-75% the extra head has its own personality and a 50% chance to disagree with its creator about anything, stopping whatever it is doing to argue for 1-4 minutes. On 76-80% it has two extra arms that it uses well.

On 81-85% it looks as intended but gains one extra ability: invisibility at will, changing shape into any creature once a day, flight, breathing water, seeing invisible things, detecting magic by sight, tracking at 95% indoors or out, gaseous form once a day for 10 minutes, or frightening anyone who sees it into fleeing for 1-10 minutes once a day. Rolls of 86-90%, 91-95% and 96-100% give two, three and four of these abilities.
