An alchemist shapes a clay golem beside copper furnaces and a homunculus in a jar, with whales drifting past a sunken city beyond.

Necromantic Bell

Alchemy, Advanced necromantic ritual

A seven-metal bell engraved with arcane signs; ringing it calls the spirit of an ancient necromancer who truthfully answers one question on dark matters, if not summoned more than monthly.

From the book

A 7 oz. bell cast from an ounce each of lead, tin, iron, gold, copper, silver and mercury, which must then be ground and polished, and engraved with particular arcane symbols. The work takes a month of painstaking labor.

Ringing the bell calls up the spirit of a long-dead necromancer (the Game Judge should create an N.P.C. of 11th-20th level to play it). The spirit may be asked a single question on black magic, the spirit realm or any necromantic ritual, and will always answer truthfully as long as it is called no more than once a month. Summoning it more often than that stirs up its wrath.
