Aqua Vitae (Water of Life)

Alchemy, Homonculus

The life-giving fluid used to animate golems, machina and homonculi, brewed in an aludel by the essence method.

Also called Water of Life, Waters of Life

From the book

Aqua vitae, the Water of Life, is the wondrous fluid that gives artificial life to homonculi and animates golems and machina. It can be made only in an aludel, only by an alchemist, and only in a well-equipped laboratory.

The recipe calls for a dram each of 20 powdered herbs and 30 powdered animal ingredients; 10 carats each of powdered diamond for sight, pearl for wisdom and jade for life force; 2 drams of powdered iron for strength; 48 drams of Rare Earths with 48 fl. oz. of clear water; and a dose of alchahest. The method follows that of essences, and success yields one fluid ounce.

Each dose takes two weeks, halved if a wizard or sorcerer works with the alchemist, and succeeds 25% of the time +2% per point of Will. Thaumaturges can brew it only in an enchanted brass vessel, at 20% +2% per point of Intelligence.
