Galecea

Galecea, which gives the Galecean Peninsula its name, is a big, roughly round territory bounded by Aragana to the north, the Tharshi lands to the south and east and the River Oceanus to the west. It has two distinct parts, sometimes treated as separate regions: the coastal strip of Ugala and the great plateau of Alamanazor. The plateau runs nearly to the sea, and its high cliffs stop rain clouds, so Ugala gets most of the rain while Alamanazor is dry, covered in scrub and sparse, tough plants.

Volcanoes ring the plateau, nearly marking its borders. Fire elementals and spirits are said to bathe in the lava, air elementals and spirits to visit the heights, and earth spirits and elementals to cross the plateau often. Rare monsters live here too: manticores, chimeras and tribes of arcitenus (two-headed centaurs) on the plateau, and ogres, trolls and similar beasts in old ruins, all in scattered lairs rather than great numbers. Wild boar, aurochs and ibex also roam.

Small groups of barbarians and goblins live here, and the region shelters brigands, fugitives, hermits, outcasts, misfits and shady spellcasters, but it has no large towns or ruling culture. Windswept ruins, mostly Atlantean and Hesperian but some from lost, mysterious civilizations, are said to hide ancient treasure and powerful magical secrets, and they draw fortune-hunters from Tharshesh, Atlantis and even Hesperia.
