Alba

Place, Island

An island usually counted part of Mediterranea but treated separately for its variety, from the Forest of Arden to the plains of Havar and the bleak north of Skara and Skye. Deer, cattle, wolves and ogres abound and a few dragons lair in the wilds. Its peoples range from the ogre-worshipping Abor to neo-Atlantean Avalon, Havar's druids and the corsairs of Cymbri and Skye.

From the book

Alba is normally counted as part of Mediterranea, but its climate, landscape and peoples vary so much that it deserves its own treatment. The tangled Forest of Arden, the gentle plains of Havar, and the harsh yet strangely beautiful north of Skara and Skye all lie on this one fairly small island.

Deer, cattle, sheep, goats and wolves are common. Ogres are especially numerous in Aboric, and a handful of dragons and firedrakes are thought to lair in the wild places. The Sidhe still hold Arden as one of the last refuges of the Faerie Folk.

Its human cultures range just as widely, from the savage ogre-worshippers of Aboric to the advanced neo-Atlantean city of Avalon, and from Havar's peaceable druids to the sea raiders of Skye and Cymbri. The island is split into the regions of Cymbri, Havar, Arden, Starr, Avalon, Aboric, Skara and Skye.
