Aboric

Aboric lies in central Alba, touching Skara, Skye, Avalon and Starr. Its people, the Abor, are light-skinned, dark-haired barbarians who came from Iber; they look much like the folk of Uallach there, but the kinship is physical only. They are filthy, crude and slovenly, dress in rough furs and hides, and have no friends among any other tribe. Alba's civilized peoples loathe them, and in Avalon, Havar and nearby lands phrases like 'son of an Abor' or 'manners of an Abor' are the worst of insults.

They worship the Old God Og in an unorthodox way, treating the ogres common in their land as the god's representatives and offering sacrifices to the strongest of them. Every offering is human: a young virgin at every new moon, children at each equinox and solstice, and captives whenever they can be had. Their language uses a single word for stranger, traveler and enemy alike. In exchange the ogres mostly leave the Abor in peace.

The Abor have tamed wild, wolf-like dogs that they use for hunting and war. Their warriors fight with spears, slings and stone-headed clubs, armored only in wolf or bear hide. Most live in small, loose bands spread across the region; their one sizable settlement is the cave complex of Ugmur.
