Upir

Creature, The Undead

Human spell casters slain by a vampire who become vampires themselves while keeping their spell casting and level (but cannot grow like Yatu). They must kill a human for blood at least weekly or weaken and crumble after four weeks, and are hunted by priests, witch hunters, paladins and mobs.

From the book

Upir are human spell casters who were killed by a vampire and became vampires themselves. They have every strength and weakness of vampires but keep the level of ability they had in life, though they cannot grow in power the way Yatu do. They look like ordinary people, perhaps a little pale and gray, but cast no reflection, cannot bear daylight, are driven back by holy symbols, and cannot enter churches, temples or other sacred places.

Because they keep their spell casting, Upir are extremely dangerous. Even so, they must drink the blood of living humans to survive, killing at least one person a week. An Upir that cannot feed weakens and crumbles to dust after four weeks. Like vampires, a hungry Upir cannot resist the urge and must kill whatever the risk, so they often have to keep moving to avoid being found, and are sometimes tracked down by priests, witch hunters, paladins or angry mobs of townspeople. An Upir keeps the level it had in life but is always turned as at least 16th level, and now and then one travels with other vampires or with lesser undead.
