Afiti

Creature, The Undead

Human spell casters slain by ghouls who rise as ghoul-like undead with their former level of ability but no further advancement except by feeding. Often driven insane, they must eat humanoid corpses or crumble to dust after thirteen weeks, and fill animals and people with dread.

Also called Affiti

From the book

Afiti are human spell casters who were killed by ghouls and rose as ghastly undead. They share the ghoul's basic traits but keep the level of ability they had in life, though they can never advance further by normal means. They look horrible: gaunt, hollow-eyed faces, deathly gray skin, clawed hands and long, very sharp teeth.

The change often drives them mad and sends them hunting fresh corpses, and only by eating them can they keep their undead existence. An Afiti that goes unfed for over thirteen weeks crumbles to dust. Eating humanoid corpses restores its strength, and once fully recovered it can grow even stronger than it was by continuing to feed; in play each victim adds 1-3 points to an attribute of its choosing, up to the listed maximums.

Their foul feeding makes every living thing fear and loathe them. All but the fiercest animals shy away from their smell, and people of every race feel an unexplained dread in their presence. Some Afiti are served by ghouls that worship them as demi-gods. An Afiti keeps the level it had in life but is always turned as at least 16th level. It has every ability of a ghoul, including the paralyzing bite, and keeps its spell casting.
