A scene
The bronze bell of the fishermen's shrine in Vaca vanished overnight, and the old keeper describes it in loving detail: the green bloom on the rim, the dent from a storm, the rope of braided bark. Tupac the astrologer listens, closes his eyes, and then begins to walk. He turns through the public market like a compass needle, ignoring the stalls, and within the hour he is standing outside a smith's back door, where the pull in his mind abruptly stops.
