Diamond embodies light and true seeing, and is the costliest gem on the list. Two carats alone make a Potion of Detect Invisibility (20 ft.) or a Potion of Vision, letting the drinker see clearly out to a mile. It also sharpens Potions of Night Vision, turns detect-illusion and detect-magic mixtures into dusts that make their targets glow, and seven carats go into each ingot of orichalc, which enchants weapons and armor. Ten carats, standing for sight, are part of aqua vitae.
