Amethyst governs emotional influence and immunity to drunkenness. With jade it makes a Potion of Immunity to Drunkenness, and set in copper it forms an amulet against intoxication. A carat with silver, gold and platinum yields a Potion of Emotional Influence, able to stir apathy, sympathy or antipathy in as many as ten beings.
Powdered amethyst is the heart of several dusts, among them confusion (with mercury), desire, rage (with minotaur horn) and the three emotional-influence dusts, and most Rings of Emotional Influence hold 2-20 ct. amethysts set in gold.
