Throwing net

Equipment, Weapon

A weighted net cast to trap a foe rather than wound it.

From the book

A net that snares rather than wounds. It weighs 1/4 lb., costs 5 S.P. under miscellaneous weaponry, and has no Strength minimum. It is thrown by hand, reaching 5 ft. per point of Strength, or 10 ft. per point at long range.

Any hit entangles the target, leaving the victim open to undefended attacks. The victim may try to escape on the next round with a save vs Dexterity or Strength, but against any kind of net only one attempt is allowed. Until second level, the net is the only missile weapon a gladiator can learn.
