The heavy crossbow weighs 4 lb., deals 1-8 damage, needs a Strength of 10, and costs 20 G.P. Twenty heavy quarrels cost 2 G.P.
It is effective out to 200 ft., with long range running from 200 to 500 ft.; shots at long range take the non-proficiency penalty, and firing at an evading target beyond effective range can double that penalty. A magical crossbow gains 10% range for each +1 of enchantment.
