Potions of Cursed (or Reversed) Effect
Alchemy, Potion
Turns any potion into a cursed or reversed version that is hard to identify by testing or magic.
Also called Cursed potion, Reversed potion
From the book
To turn any potion into a cursed or reversed one, the brewer adds powdered fly, black cat's hair, bat's wing and mercury, 1 dr. of each, to the normal ingredients before combining them. The result is difficult to detect: a Test has a 50% chance of missing the mercury, and magical means of identification run into the same problem.
As with all potions, the brew starts from a base of one pint of clear water, 1 dr. apiece of powdered gold, silver and copper, and 1 ct. apiece of seven powdered gems, though an alchemist can use 2 drs. of Rare Earths in place of the gems. The work calls for a mortar and pestle, a small cauldron or alembic and a furnace, and it takes a week. While it ferments the mixture is unstable, carrying a 1% risk of mishap between the 2nd and 7th days. The chance of success is 90% plus 1% per level, up to 99%, and prices begin at 400 G.P.
