The largest maelstrom in the world, in the central Atlantean Ocean; its pull is felt across nearly a third of the ocean and tightens into a whirl hundreds of miles wide, from which no one has ever returned. It is the only part of the ocean Antillan Tritons shun.

Its pull spreads over almost a third of the ocean, though across most of that area it is only a faint undertow. Nearer the center the current quickens until it becomes an unstoppable draw, spinning water and all it carries in tightening circles over a region hundreds of miles wide around the giant central whirlpool. No mortal, human, Triton or other, is known to have entered the Maw and come back, and it is the one part of the ocean the Antillan Tritons never visit.
