Sahuga

The Sahuga, who hold the part of the plateau named after them, are the most religious of Antilla's Tritons. Shamanistic and mysterious, they keep some rites and traditions hidden even from other Tritons. With outsiders they are usually aloof, dealing with them only when it serves their purposes and avoiding long or complicated agreements.

Children are brought into the shamanic cult young, so every Sahuga has at least basic shamanic skill; a few are shamans of fearsome power, though most are ordinary. They usually take dolphins as power animals and set them against the sharks that serve the Makara. The youngest and least skilled gather food, while the most powerful conduct rituals, deepen their lore and defend the tribe's lands. The Sahuga cluster in the south-central interior of their territory, because the edges are overrun by Makara of the Antillan Channel, who fight them almost without pause.
