The icy north of the known world: the isle of Hyperborea, frost-giant Jotunland, and the islands of the North Sea and the Sea of the Dead.
From the book
The North Sea Region is the frozen crown of the known world, taking in the lands and waters of the far north. Hyperborea is a cold, windswept isle lying between Mediterranea and Jotunland, home to the Cimmerian and Vanir tribes and to dwarves who dwell under the Rhiphaen Mountains; traders sail from as far off as Sheba and Turan for its amber. Jotunland, also called Jotunheim, is a storm-dark waste of glaciers and ice rivers ruled by the blue-skinned frost giants known as the Jotun.
Around them lie the North Sea, chilled by an arctic current that carries icebergs steadily westward, and the Sea of the Dead, a gloomy northern sea of sea-dragons, sunlit summers and long black winters. Its scattered isles include ice-ringed Aurora, the garden isle of Ogygia where the enchantress Calypso keeps court, and bleak Thule, said to shelter savage demon-worshippers and exiled black magicians. The regional map also marks Cimmeria, Haloga, the Borean Forest, the Utgard forests, the Frost Plains, the Phantom Isles and the Unknown Isles.
