Maia

Maia is the second oldest Hesperian colony. It resembles Electa but lacks that province's heavy military presence; its garrison is of normal size and serves mostly as border guards and police, and there has been no major fighting for generations. Its neighbors are Electa on the north, Taygea on the northeast, Awalawa on the southeast and Ophir on the south, and its western edge is the Oceanus shore. Relations with Ophir are sometimes tense, but neither side is thought likely to attack.

Almost no one lived here before the Amazons came; today's slaves descend from people forcibly moved from Taygea and Electa, and the population is still small. The capital, Mani, handles trade with Ophir, Atlantis and Tharshesh and has few permanent residents but a steady flow of foreign visitors, housed in a hut village called Manani outside the garrison walls.
