At the city's core lies an island measuring 3,035 feet (5 stadia) in diameter. Gateways 100 feet wide open onto the bridges on its north, west and east sides, and each gate is flanked by a pair of defensive towers. The walls rise 75 feet, the gate arches 100 feet. Docks spread outward from the outer wall, but only the military and royalty may use them.
