Minor demons

Minor demons serve as familiars or perform any single service. Black Magic's Summon Familiar and High Magic's Minor Evocation can call them; a caster who only dabbles in black magic rolls to see which familiar answers, while a necromancer may choose. A familiar serves loyally until dismissed, but Summon Familiar can be cast only once a year. The two minor demons listed are the gremlin and the manes.

Like all demons it hails from the Nether Realms: chaotic, evil, fond of tormenting and slaughtering the weak, and held in check only by the Hierarchy of Demons under Mephistopheles. Its summoner must be harsh, since any hesitation invites it to twist his orders; it shies at first from holy symbols, and lesser and greater demons must attack devils on sight.
