The caster inscribes any one of the Symbols of Power, whose individual effects are described in the section on Symbols. What save applies, if any, depends on which symbol is drawn. The spell itself is Non-variable and belongs to the highest level of High Magic.

A scene
The wizard Aspasia sealed her vault beneath Gorias with no lock at all. She traced a single symbol in the air above the archway with the tip of her staff, an inverted triangle with a single line inside it, and watched it hang there, glowing faintly. Three nights later, a band of treasure hunters crept down the stairs with their lanterns and looked up. The first saw the symbol and screamed, dropped his lantern and ran in blind terror, straight past his friends and out into the night. Two of the others followed him.
