Side Show Talents

Skill, Performing

Carnival feats: harmlessly swallowing small objects (and sword-swallowing or fire-breathing acts), and contortionism, including squeezing through tight gaps and slipping out of bonds.

From the book

Side Show Talents are the odd feats of the carnival. Swallowers, sometimes called geeks, can swallow anything that fits in their mouths, such as coins, rings, bones or chewed glass, without any harm at all. The sword-swallower and the fire-breather belong to the same trade, although neither literally swallows anything: the fire-breather sprays a mouthful of flammable liquid across a torch or other flame.

Contortionists can twist into extraordinary shapes and squeeze into or through any gap wide enough for their torso. Many can also dislocate their shoulders at will without injury, as Houdini trained himself to do, in order to slip ropes and bonds. Such an escape needs a save vs Dexterity, halved in any metal armor, and getting out of manacles or chained locks is impossible without the Lock-Picking skill as well. It costs 1,000 XP, with 1-3 months of tutoring for anyone other than a Harlequin.
