Greater magic items (general rules)
Rule, Magic items
Greater Magic Items hold permanent powers that renew themselves every day rather than needing recharging.
From the book
Greater Magic Items carry permanent enchantments. Rather than running out of charges, they restore their powers on their own each day.
Making one uses the same materials as a Minor Magic Item and takes two months, plus two more weeks for every level of the spell being bound into the object; alchemists follow the rules for Essences instead. The enchantment succeeds 99% of the time.
When such an item can be bought at all, it usually costs no less than twice its materials plus 2,000 G.P. for each week of enchanting. As with other devices, casters may neither make nor use a Greater Magic Item that contains a spell restricted to another profession. Amulets, cloaks, crystal balls, magic carpets and many other wonders are made this way.
