True Copper

Alchemy, Essence

An amber liquid that grants a worn item a point of defensive bonus per week of dousing, up to four.

From the book

An amber liquid, one fluid ounce, that grants protection to a single worn item such as a ring, necklace or cloak. After a week of daily dousing, the item gives its wearer +1 to defense.

The process can be repeated up to four times over four weeks, for at most +4 on any one object, but each extra week needs a fresh dose of True Copper. Only the alchemist who made the essence can do the dousing, an hour every day, and missing a single day ruins the enchantment.
