True (Fixed) Lead
Alchemy, Essence
A gray liquid mixed into paint or lacquer that makes coated objects nearly proof against spells, but also stifles the wearer's own magic except magic weapons.
Also called True Lead
From the book
A fluid ounce of smoky gray liquid. Stirred into a gallon of paint or lacquer, it makes enough coating for up to 1000 sq. ft. Anything painted with it, such as a boat or a full suit of armor, becomes 95% resistant to spell casting of any kind.
The protection cuts both ways: anyone wearing treated armor finds that his or her own magic, whether spells or magic items, is just as likely (95%) to fail. Magic weapons are the one exception.
Like every essence, it is drawn out with a quarter fluid dram of alchahest from 12 drams of its base substance, using an aludel, an athanor and a full laboratory over at least two weeks; success rests on a save vs Will, and a failed attempt must be repeated from the start.
