An alchemist shapes a clay golem beside copper furnaces and a homunculus in a jar, with whales drifting past a sunken city beyond.

Sacred Articles

Alchemy, Holy item

Well-made ritual objects such as chalices and censers, imbued with holy power so they boost rites and pain unholy creatures who touch them; misuse is sacrilege.

From the book

Chalices, vessels, censers and the like can become sacred articles. Any ordinary object of good to excellent quality qualifies, once a day has been spent imbuing it with the aura of Divine Magic or of Mysticism.

Used in a spell, ritual or other observance, a sacred article makes it more effective, perhaps by extending its duration, widening its area or strengthening its effect, as the Game Judge rules. Such articles count as magical for saves, and undead, demons or devils who handle one suffer 1-4 points of damage per round and must save vs WILL or let go.

Using a sacred article for anything unrelated to one's faith is normally sacrilege and is sure to bring misfortune, or even punishment from a Deity or demi-god. Holy items can be made only by practitioners of Divine Magic or Mysticism.
